A Winterfire seminar organized for Christians who are ready to excel!
Ticket no. 239. This was my pass in witnessing the Yupper Winterfire night for the year 2009. For curious readers out there, Winterfire was coined for evening gatherings of grown-ups known as the Yuppers of Jesus Christ To God Be The Glory Church International. The occasion was entitled: “FAST and CURIOUS", so buckle up as you read on…
August 21 was a non-working holiday and attendees were relaxed as they gathered around tables, ready to chill and mingle. The night started with a prayer and continued on with an array of jamming and dance sessions followed by ice breakers. The place was packed with people enjoying themselves in the company of Christians of the same age bracket, while anticipating to hear an empowered teaching.
On paper, the theme Fast and Curious with its teaser sounded like something that aimed to realign us to get busy with matters of the church rather than the secular. The result was refreshingly different. The speaker, Ms. Leslie Santos, drove the direction into a realization, by drawing the attention of Yuppers to what Christian employees should be and how to excel in their respective fields.
Fast and Accurate is the kind of employee who is distinguished above anyone else. The advantages of being one are: high productivity, quicker achievement of lifetime goals, and increased potential for earnings.
- To be highly productive, we have to do away with monumental blunders. This means finishing many important tasks correctly in a given span of time even if we don’t like the work, the company, or the boss.
- To set the path towards achieving lifetime goals, short-term and long-term goals have to be identified.
- To increase potential for earning, we have to be aware of our efficiency, effectiveness, and competency in accepting more challenges and higher responsibilities which will result to promotion. We should be willing to do the second mile.
Examples of Bible characters who stood-out are Daniel, the administrator of Babylonia, and Joseph, a prison manager.

Fast and Curious on the other hand, are those who tend to get distracted from their focus due to lots of curiosity calls on the side. We then lose direction, get misaligned from our plans, incur too many monumental mistakes, shoot up our budget, and learn from costly experiences. We get trapped in this because we want to get “there” fast, even to the point that we become too eager to earn in an unbiblical manner such as working as a freelancer for one company while still being employed as a full-time in another; using the company’s time and resources for personal gain; accepting bribery, padding amount for reimbursements, and having other business with conflicting interest to one’s company. We must take into mind Luke 20:25: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s“.
The teaching was further enhanced with tips in earning a few more money and has wittingly wrapped up with the following verses:
I Timothy 6:9: “But those who CRAVE TO BE RICH fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into RUIN and DESTRUCTION.“
I Timothy 6:6-8: “But GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.“
As the night wore on, the Yuppers took their time eating together as if in a music filled restaurant and have returned to their own homes replete, contented, and with the teaching carefully stored into hearts and minds.
